Relatives of the Ostrich

There are many relatives to the bird this blog is named after in the ratite bird family (a family of large flightless birds). This group consists of:

The Rhea:


The Emu:


The Moa (extinct 1500 CE):


The Elephant Bird (extinct 1500 CE):

    Great site and info!
    I just think you should also include the Cassowary (native to N.E. Australia and New Guinea) as it ia a Ratite too!

    The Elephant bird egg isn't being compared to an ostrich egg and a hand; the hand is holding between the thumb and forefinger the worlds smallest birds egg which belongs to a species of hummingbird...
